If you are unable to find documentation, I think you should give up till now.
RAC is a hard and difficult task.

Seems the OP may not be asking too much Smile.
There ***are*** youtube tutorials to install Oracle.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Hbbe3DWwkcQ
and the more famous "unconventional" installation, which hits right on the spot.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CHzV4LZnvHc&feature=related
Unfortunately, nothing for RAC, atleast in youtube.
There are a few web-seminars available from Dan Norris.
Not sure if they are always available in archives.

I'd check out the helpful articles at Tim Hall's Oracle-base.com site for beginner installation. Start with this one: http://oracle-base.com/articles/10g/OracleDB10gR2RACInstallationOnWindows2003UsingVMware.php

You'll find lots more samples and examples for Linux-based RAC installs than you will Windows. However, if Windows is your platform, you'll still find enough in the docs and in the article cited above to get things rolling.

As far as I know, VMWare Server has no such limitation unless your hardware just can't handle it. The procedures were created using VMWare Server and I've done it myself as well, so I know it works. What VMWare product are you using? VMWare Server? What is the exact error message you receive?

With VMWare, you'll be looking for procedures about the *guest* OS platform you're using, not the host OS platform.

I don't have any VMs that I can give you (besides, last time I built them, it'd take 10+ Gb of download to send them to you), but following the procedures, it should be relatively easy to build.

I'd also recommend starting with the most recent VMWare Server software (1.0.6) available from http://www.vmware.com/download/server/.

I'd start by verifying that the filenames specified in the .vmx file are correct. It looks like you probably changed the filename of a .vmdk file, but didn't change that in the .vmx file. Make sure they are consistent.

The only requirement is that the .vmx file is a unique pathname. As outlined in my procedure, I suggest copying the whole VM directory to a new directory name and changing the name of the .vmx file. Then, edit the .vmx file contents to change pathnames as appropriate.
